Some Useful Tips on Weight Loss

For women losing weight on hips and thighs is an eternal quest and has intrigued most weight loss doctors, because many methods simply do not show results. Different methods work for different people depending on individual constitutions, but theres a more generic solutions.

Method A Check the amount and type of oil and fat in your diet; some people gain a lot of fat on hips and thighs if they consume butter, cheese, milk and curd. The smart option is to switch to olive oil and vegetable oil. For breakfast, one can make vegetable stuffed toast in sandwich maker or mushroom on toast. On Sundays, toasted garlic bread with olive oil is an interesting option. The optimum oil/ fat intake in the diet should be what is used in green vegetables, so avoid too much oil in pulses or combination of oil and cereal. Method B Change the proportion of carbohydrates and protein in the diet to eat less carbohydrates. Limit high carbohydrates foods like rice, potatoes, pasta and bread and eat more of wheat and soya mixed roti. Non-vegetarian can eat all varieties of foods, including fish, chicken and meats, but must go easy on very heavy red meat, which can be eaten once in a week. Eat lots of vegetables in cooked and raw salad form and in soups. Drinking plenty of water, and avoid fruit juice, but consume up to four fruits of low glycemic index per day.

The best way to lose weight specifically on hips and thighs is to walk briskly as much as your body can manage comfortably and finally take it up to four kilometers. For the people who already walk, do realities check on your diet!

Tapping

You will be using your pointer and middle fingers from either hand to do the tapping. At each meridian you will tap 7 times, give or take this method is very forgiving.

The Setup

The most important part of the technique is the setup. To do this we say an affirmation whilst tapping or rubbing a particular spot. For the purpose of this exercise I am going to show you the karate chop set up. If you have a look at your hand, palm facing you, look at the side of the hand from the top of the pinky finger down to the wrist. Just above the wrist is a flesh part where one would normally do a karate chophave you found it. If so this is the area you will tap using you pointer and middle fingers.

Okso now that we have all of that out of the way I want you to tap you karate spot for practice.

Basic Recipe - The Meridians

The meridians are as follow, try and find it on your body as I mention it. Practice a little so you become familiar with them.

1.Eye Brow this is the beginning of the eyebrow above the nose

2.Side of Eye this can be found the bone at the end of the eyebrow

3.Under Eye on the cheekbone under the eye

4.Under Nose- under the nose above the top lip

5.Chin the crevasse between the lower lip and the chin

6.Collar bone just under the collar bone

7.Armpit halfway down under the armpit

8.Thumb under the nail of the thumb

9.Pointer finger bottom side of the nail facing the thumb

10.Middle finger - bottom side of the nail facing the thumb

11.Little finger - bottom side of the nail facing the thumb

Repeat 1 to 7

The Affirmation Statements

Whilst tapping your karate spot you say an affirmation that is specific to you. Where there are blanks you fill in the reason. For the purpose of this exercise we are going to work on a particular food craving of yours. What I want you to do is go buy yourself what ever it is you craving, keeping in mind you may not want to eat it when you finish this exercise.

Before you start this exercise I want you to rate your desire to want what ever it is you have a craving for. I want you to smell it and savor the smell. I want you to have a small bite. Now on a scale from 0 10, 0 being no craving, 10 being crave it, write it down on a piece of paper for later reference.

The Statement

Whilst tapping your karate spot say the following affirmation as loud as you possibly can, if you cant say it out loud, say it loud in your mind. Repeat the affirmation and tapping 3 times.

Even though I have a craving for I deeply and completely accept myself Repeat 2 more times

Now follow the Basic Recipe, whilst tapping at each meridian say craving for .

Even though I still have a craving for I deeply and completely accept myself

When you finish rate yourself from 0 10 again and write it down. You should notice a shift in your desire to eat what ever it is you desire, even to the point it no longer taste the same to you. If you havent reached a 0, repeat this exercise again.

Spot Reduction is a Myth

Sit-ups, crunches and other exercises can strengthen your belly muscles, but there is no such thing as spot reduction. Exercising a muscle does not get rid of fat over the specific muscles that are exercised. If it did, tennis players would have less fat in their tennis arms, but they don't.

6.Start drinking water: Soda and juice contains a lot of calories. Drink water and safe a lot calories. .

7.Start taking walks: Walking one or two times a day isnt to hard but can help you lose weight faster. All other forms of physical activities are also good. .

8.Eat often: eating many well planned low calorie meals a day helps you keep from snacking and make you feel less hungry. .

9.Dont expect dream results: There are many diets that promises fast results but permanent weight loss takes hard work and dedication. .

Some People May Be Genetically Prone to Obesity

A new study says the gene could increase some people's risk of becoming dangerously overweight by 70% and raising their consequent chance of developing Diabetes by 50%.

The study, by geneticists from Oxford University and the Peninsula Medical School in Britain, could eventually lead to new ways of approaching the condition that blights the health of millions. The findings may also help explain why some people find it harder to lose weight than others.

The researchers spent 15 years analyzing the DNA and health of more than 40,000 adults and children before pinpointing a gene called FTO which plays a key role in obesity. Professor Graham Hitman, of Queen Mary's School of Medicine in London, said: "We live in a blame culture, in which, when people gain weight, it is entirely their fault. This exciting research confirms, that while improving lifestyle is still the key, some people will find it harder to change their weight than others."

Experts have warned that an entire generation faces an old age blighted by heart disease, cancer, Diabetes and other diseases brought on by obesity.

The research, reported in the journal Science, pinpointed a flawed version of the FTO gene. It is the first time a specific gene has been linked to obesity.

As genes come in pairs, the people at greatest risk are those who carry two flawed versions of FTO. They are around 7 pounds heavier than average.

Those who have inherited just one flawed gene are 30% more likely to be obese and 25% more likely to develop Diabetes than those who have two normal copies.

The scientists said the flawed gene affects the weight of both adults and children, with its influence kicking in by the age of seven. But they do not know yet how it affects the body.

Meanwhile, a balanced, nutritious diet combined with regular exercise remains the surest way to help reverse an underlying cause of obesity, namely the imbalance of blood glucose and insulin called Insulin Resistance. By reversing Insulin Resistance, you can facilitate weight loss.

If left unchecked, obesity may lead to a variety of other disorders, including the cluster of increased risk factors for heart disease called Metabolic Syndrome (Syndrome X), as well as Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) - a leading cause of infertility and menstrual irregularity, acne and other skin conditions, excess facial hair and female hair loss. Overweight women do not have a monopoly on PCOS, however. Up to 50% of PCOS sufferers may be females who are of normal weight or even lean.

Overweight men are at greater risk of prostate cancer. Insulin Resistance-linked weight problems are also associated in both sexes with Type 2 Diabetes. Before the onset of this latter condition, however, most people develop reversible Pre-Diabetes, a condition in which blood sugar levels are elevated beyond normal but not high enough for a diagnosis of Type 2 Diabetes. Left unchecked, Pre-Diabetes may lead to the Type 2 variety, which can only be managed for the rest of a person's life. Many Diabetics require daily injections of insulin.

Type 2 Diabetes severely increases the risk of blindness, amputation and kidney disease, as well as a heart attack or stroke. Some 90% of people with Type 2 also suffer from excess weight or obesity.
